Would whoever posted it before please re-post > it and where it came from? > > Thanks, > Shawna Shawna I hope there is someone out there that can post what you are asking for.I still spend some time each week throwing a grapple and rope up this brick wall.What I have found so far is truly amazing.I have a small book that was written by Winnie Kroplenicki[your half cousin]that has documented proof that John W Owen's father was James and his mother was Anna.On the other hand Elizabeth Barton maintains that she has proof that John w's father was a John Owen[Revolutioary soldier]SR.I also am in possession of a piece of undocumented information which states that John W's father was Thomas Owen.Somewhere in here several people keep trying to stick Elizabeth McCurry.I have information from a Myra Dill Owen that claims that John's ancestors came from Wales and settled in Henrico county VA.I have corresponded with the descendants of these Owen people and everything seems to fit,but in the end it so far just doesn't click.Many fine people have come from that line,bit the limb that we would hang from[remember that word hang] is a man known as Highwayman Owen a supposed leader of an entire gang of outlaws who preyed on innocent folks.His so Thomas Owen took over the leadership of the gang,and was said to be a mountain of a man with a raggedy bride Jane.To make a long story short they had a man in the gang by the name of Howard who was a brother-in-law to Danie Boone.One of the neighbors spotted some stolen contraband in MR Howards barn.The neighbors formes a lynch mob and went to hang poor Mr Howard.Daniel Boone stepped in and made a deal with his inlaw that they would spare him if he led them to the gangs hideout.Daniel himself led the possee that surrounde the cabin.There was a small standoff,but nothing as big as Waco.The Gang was captured and taken to a jail.After the hasty trial all the adult men were hanged.The wife of Thomas swore vengeance on Mr Howard.She said if she ever caught him out alone she would kill him and eat his liver.He beleived her and left the territory.a couple of years later he got brave and came back.They found him floating in a river shortly afterwards.This information can be found in some of Daniel Boone's writings. So you see that 's not a good limb to descend from.Actually I tried to prove those outlaws to be our ancestors,with no success so far.Myra Dill still beleives that way.I have several other possible links I am following now.One of them has a lot of possibilities.I just ran out of time so i will continue this later.If someone else has anything they could share to shed some light on this please do so.
