Having finally determined that this dear gentleman is my ancestor, I'm having some problems sorting out his life. What I do know is that there is a rock for him at Old Toxaway Cemetery. H.P. Morgan 12MAY1832 - 02MAY1919 That's it. Sum total of my documented knowledge of the man. 1. Was he born on the Hiawassee River in TN? Or was he born in NC as he claims in the census records? 2. And who were his parents? Were they some more space aliens? 3. Did he have a sister named Sarah who married William D. Galloway since she seems hard to find as well, and doesn't really seem to be the daughter of Squire Morgan like I was hoping? 4. And where is his death certificate? It's not at the Transylvania County Courthouse? Did they even bother to file one? 5. Will I ever have a nice normal ancestor who came over on the Mayflower so that the research is already done for me? BTW - Granny finally fessed up to being about 1/4 Cherokee. No hints as to which parts except it comes from both parents.
