Linda Elizabeth was the daughter of Jesse Owen and Juda Reid,which means she did not have to get used to a new name.In regards to the Trail of Tears incident,we have proof that James was one of the North Carolina militia who accompanied the Cherokee Indians on the trip,However there are some time discrepancies in his leaving North Carolina for Georgia which we have to clear up before we can accept the Indian killing story,which we first heard from Elizabeth Barton.I do not have time to go into detail now,but will do so later.Thanks for answering my post.
