Below is all I've been able to find: Lydia Freeman, daughter of Moses Freeman and [--Fanny?--], was reportedly born Aug 17, 1799 in Asheville, Buncombe Co., North Carolina; died Jan 31, 1867 in Flat Creek, North Carolina. Documentation for her includes her father's probate record, in which she was named. She married Joshua Rubalm, who was also named in her father's probate record. Can you please share information about the children of Lydia Freeman and Joshua Rubalm? Thanks so much! Jean Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: jdarnall2 Surnames: FREEMAN Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.northcarolina.counties.swain/46.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Is your Robert H. FREEMAN a descendant of Rev. Moses FREEMAN [b.1744 in Wilkes Co., NC-d. 1859 in Madison Co., NC]? He married 2x, but the names of his wives are not documented. He and his family lived for a time in Buncombe Co., NC, but records were reportedly destroyed, making it difficult to document and construct the family. Parents of Rev. Moses FREEMAN were Aaron FREEMAN [1745-1825] and Mary BENTLEY [b. abt 1749-d. abt 1820]. Their children, in addition to Rev. Moses FREEMAN, were: Joshua, Jesse, Thomas, Isaac, Aaron Posey, James, John, and some Unk. children. Children of Rev. Moses FREEMAN were: William, Green Hill, Lydia, Mary, Moses, Susan, Ailsey Beth, Tabitha, and Elisha. If you're of this family, I would love to connect and exchange information. Donnie is my uncle. I have recently gotten interested in my heritage and have been doing some light research. (I am a novice at this). I will tell you what I know. I think Donnie and my Dad, Thomas are the only living children. Hettie married later in life to Russel Roark in Union, SC. That may help. I have been told that my Great Grandmother (Hettie's Mom) was a Rathbone and that my Great Grandfather was a photographer. They lived in Jasper, GA. Once their Mother died, the kids moved to Swain County, NC. Things are fuzzy before that. My Dad says that my Grandmother was an American Indian, but he can't remember her first name or my Grandfather's name. Maybe you can help fill in that gap. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: firearrow1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.northcarolina.counties.swain/1707/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Our history is in danger ! Please sign the online petition to save the Trading Ford NC site at http://www.petitiononline.com/trading/petition.html . The Trading Ford contains Revolutionary and Civil War battlegrounds as well as other history spanning thousands of years . The importance of the Trading Ford NC historic site was most recently recognized in Report to Congress on the Historic Preservation of Revolutionary War and War of 1812 Sites in the United States in June 2008. Despite this recognition, careless development continues to threaten the site. The latest threat is by the Duke Energy Company, who wants to build a power plant DIRECTLY ATOP the site of Greene's Crossing ! During the "Race to the Dan River Campaign" in 1781, Greene drew Cornwallis into a trap that would be sprung at Yorktown with Cornwallis' surrender. In Feb 1781, Greene and his men eluded almost certain capture and annihilation by Cornwallis by crossing the Yadkin at the Trading Ford in the night while Cornwallis slept. After the crossing, the river rose , preventing the British from crossing . If not for Greene's Crossing, there would have been no Battle of Guilford Courthouse and probably no surrender at Yorktown. We might all be paying taxes to the Crown ! This is an issue for ALL Americans, not just North Carolinians. Please sign the petition first, and if you'd like to further participate in an email campaign, then go to http://www.carolina-patriot.com/tradingford.html where email and web addresses have been organized .
