Surry Community College in Dobson has a good sized local history area that contains some local and area history books as well as area family histories. They have microfilm and microfiche records from the local clerk's office and register of deeds office. They have copy machines and will usually give you change if you need it. The personnel are very helpful. Their hours are Monday - Thursday 7:30am to 9pm, Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm. Unfortunately they are closed on the weekends.
