Hi Royce, There are Lowes in Wilkes Co., NC (Lowe's Food, Lowe's Home Improvement Stores). I am not certain about the origin of Low Gap, but I imagine it refers the the topography than a surname. A lot of things in the hills were named for what they looked like.
