Samuel David Axsom m. Winifred "Winnie" Matthews, b. 1810, in Surry Co., NC on 16 Dec. 1829. Peter Norman m. Nancy Mathias, b. abt. 1801-1805 in NC - no marriage date, but first child born in 1821. Samuel Axsom and Peter Norman migrated to Monroe Co., Indiana, in the 1830s - Samuel by 1837 - Peter probably earlier. I suspect that Winifred Matthews and Nancy Mathias were sisters. There were other Mathis\Mathias family members in Monroe County who were born in NC. Is anyone researching a Mathis\Mathias\Matthews family which included Winnie and\or Nancy?
