I am trying to verify whether my ancestor, Gamaliel Bryant (also often referred to as Elder G. Briant), was briefly in Surry Co. NC in the mid 1850's. He was a preacher of the Missionary Baptist faith. I'm told he was there performing marriages in about 1854 or 1855. Can anyone look through a marriage book for those years and tell me if he appears to be performing marriages there at that time? Thanks for your help! Lorien Gunsallus
