Great! A Surry County list! It has been very difficult for me to get Surry County information since I am in CA. DAVID SAMMONS/SALMONS first appears in Surry when he marries NANCY PETTIJOHN/PETTYJOHN in 1823. He then appears in the census of 1830 and 1840 in Surry married and raising a family. Apparently a couple of sons and four or five daughters from this marriage. He appears in the 1850 census of Surry living in the Household of SUSANNAH SHORE/SHORES, having married ELIZA SHORES of that household within the past year. There is no trace of DAVID'S first family nor any indication of his or NANCY'S parents. I can trace DAVID from the 1850 census forward (I'm his gg grandson) but can't find anything before his being married in 1823. Is there anyone working this or related lines that would like to swap info? Anyone with any info - Please let me know. Thanks! John Richard Sammons JRS
