    1. [NCSURRY] Moore Family Reunion
    2. Richard W. Kesler
    3. It may be of interest to Surry Co. listers that a Moore Family Reunion was held on last Saturday, October 16th. It was headquartered at the William Alfred Moore House in Mt. Airy. William Alfred Moore was a grandson of Rod(e)ham Moore who was the first of his line to be buried in a grave yard which is located in Patrick Co., VA on a slope overlooking the Ararat River and the intervening bottom land about four miles above the VA/NC state line. Highlinght of the occasion was the dedication of a new granite headstone for Rod(e)ham Moore. Donations were made to cover the cost of erecting similar headstones for his son William Moore and William's wife Jane Hanby, and for William and and Jane's son Harden H. Moore and Harden's wife Ann Scales. Some 70 descendants of Rod(e)ham Moore including their spouses were in attendance from the twelve different states. The writer also visited the cemetary at Hunter's Chapel Church which is located in Patrick Co. on Rte. 773 about a mile south of the Rod(e)ham Moore grave yard. In it are buried Harden's and Ann's daughter Elizabeth L. Moore and Elizabeth's husband Nathaniel Henry Scales, and Elizabeth and Nathaniel's son Robert Richard Scales and Willie Cordelia Moore. Willie C. was daughter of William T. Moore and Paulina Agnes Clement. William T. was another child of Harden and Ann. All of the persons mentioned above were my ancestors. Robert Richard Scales and Willie C. Moore were my grandparents. Anyone who thinks that he or she may be a descendant of Rod(e)ham Moore, kindly contact me at my e-mail address. State your name and possible connection. Richard K.
