I am researching the following Surry Co families: BURCH, William b abt 1740 d abt 1816 Surry Co, md Mary Ann prob. Lawrence. Need his parents. Ditto hers. She may have been a sister to Richard Lawrence below. LAWRENCE, Joseph - b 1756 Albemarle Co, VA, lived in Surry Co by 1780, in Warwick Co, IN by 1810, then Greene Co, IN died 1840. Need his first three daughters - prob. Elizabeth, Hannah and Martha (I hope!). His father was Richard Lawrence. PENNINGTON, Isaac - Evidently the father of Joseph and Isaac Pennington. GRAY, William Beavans - b abt 1755 in DE, migrated to Surry Co about 1790 from Sussex Co, DE, father of William, John, Benjamin, Thomas, Ananais. No daughters. Owned land in Surry and Ashe Counties. Who were his parents? And, who was his first wife? His second was Mary Morehouse. He died 1836 Surry. GRAY, William - son of above, b abt 1785 Sussex Co, DE, migrated with father to Surry about 1790, md abt 1805 prob in Surry Co. Who was his wife? A Martin? Lived in Ashe Co, Campbell Co, TN and Nodaway Co, MO. LANGLEY, John - in Surry Co by 1793, gone by 1810. Was he the father of Matthew LANGLEY? LANGLEY, Matthew - First appears on tax lists of Surry in 1798, just married. To whom? Evidently b abt 1774 in either SC or NC, lived in Surry Co, Ashe Co, Carter Co TN, and Campbell Co, TN. Prob. died there between 1847 & 1850. His second wife was named Patience. HAMMONS, John - In Surry Co 1784, 1790 and migrated to Wythe Co, VA 1790's. Prob. father of George, Absalom and Joshua Hammons. May have migrated to Wayne Co, NC from Wythe by 1804. I have tons and tons of info on all of the above and still darn few definite answers.
