In Grayson county marriage bonds there is a Lucinda Hanks and David Davis, married by William Carrico on 1 Oct 1835( this was a minister's return, bond not found. A William Hanks is shown as the step-father on the bond for his step daughter Sally Carrico when she married John M. Fulks on Apr 30, 1822. Do you have the sketch on joshua Hanks who was the father of your William? There is quite a bit about this Hanks family in the Book Caroll 1765-1815, the Settlements by Perry Alderman. Joshua was a Quaker and provided land for the Quaker meeting house and is buried there. In Joshua's will he names William, mary, Nancy, Lydia, Patience, Rhoda, Thursa, Ruth and Susanna. It does not mention Rebecca Carrico who had died years earlier. Apparently several of his married Moores, Nancy, Lydia, Thomas. There were about l5 children in his family. William hanks who died in 1868 was married four times, but it doesn't list any of his wifes. I will be happy to copy this and snail mail it to you if you will contact me privately.
