I found these graves at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, east of the town of Mt. Airy, on Route 89. I would like to know more about the individuals, because at least part of them are related to me through Thomas Heath Dick, who was born in Guilford County but moved to Surry County in the 1840's, where he died in 1870. The graveyard had one grave marker in the grouping that was so eroded that I could not make out any lettering, although there were areas where there might have been lettering at one time. Near that stone were the following ones, all in a row and grouped together, so they must have been family members. It seems that the flu epidemic of 1918 or some other highly contagious illness must have decimated this family group. I am wondering if the infant child belongs to a younger Benjamin F. Griffith, as it would seem that Rebecca's husband would have been too old to remarry and have children by that point. Rebecca was a daughter of Thomas Heath Dick, but I know of no children of that couple by the name of Benjamin, so I am wondering if the younger Benjamin was a grandson. I never did find the graves for Thomas Morrison Dick and his wife Elizabeth, so I would appreciate it if anyone knows where those graves are and/or can tell me where to find them. I am also searching for any graves for Hall or Heath individuals that might be buried near a Dick family individual.
