Nester MOUNT AIRY - Eleanor Simmons Nester, 97, of the 600 block of Lovers Lane, widow of Dexter Nester passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 20, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born June 6, 1910, in Surry County to the late Robert Franklin "Bud" and Mary Simmons Simmons. She was a member of Bannertown Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Sandy Nester, Jerry and Shirley Nester, all of Mount Airy; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Jackie Nester of Westfield, N.C.; a step-son-in-law, Don Moler of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; eight grandchildren and spouses, Nancy Bell, Lisa and Lee Hurst, Laura Boyd, Matthew Anderson and Joel Anderson, all of Chesapeake, Melanie and John Arnall of Kernersville, Mike and Retha Nester of Roanoke Rapids and Natalie Nester of Atlanta; two step-grandchildren and spouses, Susan and Donnie Inman of Mount Airy, Paige and Matt Lynch of North Wilkesboro; 10 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Zola Chilton of Pilot Mountain, N.C. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Nester was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Nester and Joe Bill Anderson; a stepdaughter, June Nester Moler; two grandsons, Jeffrey Anderson and Michael Nester; four sisters, Lela O'Neal, Willie McGee, Ruth Edinger and Jessie Allred; and a brother, Garnet Simmons. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy conducted by the Rev. Milton Sewell and the Rev. Rickey Rogers. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Moody Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bannertown Baptist Church, 1834 Westfield Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
