    1. Re: [NCSURRY] Joseph Wiliams of Early Surry Co., NC
    2. Thank you, Pam, for sharing that information with me. It is very helpful to understand the composition of the family of Joseph Williams of Surry Co., NC. I hope someday I will be able to find out more about his alleged father, Nathaniel Williams, who at one time lived in colonial Hanover Co. ca 1733-1735 and then later in Louisa Co., near Mychunk/Mechunk Creek. He, the father Nathaniel Williams, was characterized as a neighbor in Louisa Co. of some probable nephews or step-nephews, the orphans of Henry Graves, who supposedly died in Hanover Co. The second wife of Henry Graves was a sister of Nathaniel Williams--Mary Williams. I found some records for Mary Graves in Lunenburg and then Mecklenburg Co., VA wherein she gave some land to her son Elijah Graves. More information provided if anyone is interested. But PLEASE--if you have a Williams in your family, this is to let you know that unless your Williams lived in colonial Virginia in one of these counties, I cannot tell you of your pedigree. These were the counties: Henrico Co., part of which became Goochland Co.; Hanover Co. and this was prior to the American Revolution, and in some cases prior to 1746!!!
