    1. [NCSURRY] Abraham Wood, Jr., of Surry NC

    3. I am trying to run down Abraham Wood, son of Abraham Wood. They are listed as such on the 1774-75 tax list of Surry County, NC. Abraham Wood, Sr. was one of the earliest settlers in the area that became Surry. He is listed on a 1768 Rowan county, NC tax list. Abraham Sr. died ca 1788 in Surry. On 13 Aug 1788 Abraham Wood grants power of attorney to Air Hudspeth, Jr. to collect debts. I do not know if this is Abraham Jr. or Sr. The Administrator of Abrahams estate was his son-in-law, Jesse Scott, which suggest that his son Abraham, Jr. had perhaps moved on by this time. Abrahams other known son, Obediah moved about this time to Greenville County, SC, with his in-laws, the Charles. About 1810, Jesse and Fanny Wood Scott moved to the Overton County area of TN, but were members of the McFarlands Creek Church in Monroe County, with other family members, and other former residents of Surry County. On the Mill Creek Church list, 1799 - 1806 for what is now Monroe County, Ky are the following with the surname Wood:. Thomas Abraham Polly Bartholemew Elizabeth John Thomas Betty, Sr. Betty, Jr. Could this be Abraham Wood, Jr. of Surry county, NC?
