    2. I thought some of you might be interested in court record of the 1778 division of Wilkes County from Surry Co. This was found on page 116, LDS microfilm 0019972 "A Return of the proceedings of the Commissioners who ware appointed to Run the Dividing Line Between the County of Surry & Wilks" "(To Witt) Begining on Rowan County Line about Half a mile Below Daniel Rashes at a White Oak Standing in the head of a Branch of huntin Creek thence North Crossing the Mulberry field Road about half a mile below Hamblins Old store house thence through Solomon sparks Plantation having the Said Sparks's house in Surry County thence Crossing the Brushy mountin at the head of the north fork of Swan Creek thence crossing the Yadkin River a little Below Captain Parks's and through the lower Ind of Carrel Plantation on the North Side of Said River thence Crossing the Bigg Elkin at the long Sholes thence Crossing the South fork of Mitchells River about half a mile above Riggs's Road thence Crossing Mitchells River a Little Below John Scotts Crossing the Top of the Piney Nobb to the main Ridge of mountains About Two miles West of Fishes Peak thence to the Virginia Line The above line being Run Exactly Twenty Six Miles West of Surry Court House Agreeable to Act of Assembly By Henry Speer } Joseph Herndon} Commissioners Robert Lanior } North Carolina Surry County Augt Court 1778 The within Return of the Boundry Line Between Surry and Wilks was Returned to Court by the Commissioners and Ordered to be Recorded Recorded Accordingly J.
