Hello Harold, Is this the same David Cockerham I have, b.Nov 25, 1763 in Lunnenburg Co., VA., d. May 26, 1856 in Surry Co., NC and is buried in the Jones Cockerham cemetary in Zyphyr, NC? David married Mary Ann Burch abt 1790 in Surry Co., NC. Many of Davids children did change their surname to Cockrum. After his father, John, died David moved to Surry NC from Lunnenburg VA in 1771 with his uncles Moses and William. David was a Rev War vet and fought in place of his uncle Moses. I also would be interested in anyone else with info on the Cockerhams and Burches of Surry County. Glenn E.
