    3. Hi, everyone, The will of Robert Harris (wife was Lucretia Brown, daughter of Benjamin Brown) was recorded in 1809 in Surry Co., NC Deed Book 3, p. 93. This will, written 10 July 1806, and probated at November Court, 1809, names his children in the following order (which I assume was eldest to youngest): Elijah Harris (the land where I live; originally purchased from Robert Lanier.) Sons Tyree, Bezeleel Brown, Bernice and daughter Lucretia have already received 100 pounds of Virginia money out of my estate. My children Mourning BURCH, Nancy BOON, the heirs of my son Robert, Lucy HEAD, the heirs of Patsy TURNER (100 pounds Virginia money to each.) The heirs of Sarah BLACKWELL (50 pounds Virginia money.) My granddaughter, Milly HARRIS, horse, saddle, bed and furniture. The rest of the estate to be divided equally, "except for Elijah, who is to take no share but land given him". Executors: sons Elijah and Bezeleel Harris (Signed) Robert Harris Robert's land was on the Ararat River, which begins in Patrick Co., VA, runs into Surry Co. to the east of Mt. Airy, and continues southerly for about 20 miles from there. Elijah Harris married Carrie FORKNER. The Tyree Harris named in the will of his father, Robert, was Tyree Rodes Harris, who moved to Kentucky & wrote a famous history of this branch of this Harris family. Bezeleel Brown Harris was named for one of Lucretia Brown Harris' brothers (these Browns lived at Brown's Cove, VA, which, as I recall, was where Robert & Mourning Glenn Harris [Robert d. 1809's parents] lived for a number of years while he was the Surveyor of Louisa Co., VA.) That's all I can recall off the top of my head (about this particular Robert Harris.) Pam pamstone@cfl.rr.com

    3. Hi Pam, Thanks for the info. Do you know who Mourning Harris Burch was married to? Robert Harris land was near my Stewart family. There seem to be so many TYREE Harris around, I wonder why? I have a David, John and Joseph Harris in Pittsylvania CO VA/Halifax VA. David named a son Tyree also and this line moved to GA. This Harris line may be allied with my Payne line from Pittsylvania CO VA (lived on Cascade Creek with David Harris). David Payne and brother Stephen moved to Henry/Patrick CO VA and also had land in Surry CO NC.
