Kizzah, late Register of Deeds Rowan County, who allegedly had found the original list in the Wall of the old courthouse WHAT'S INTERESTING ABOUT THIS INFORMATION (1768 taxables Rowan County) UNDER SEVERAL NAMES THEY LIST 1782 TAXABLES RELOCATING TO SURRY COUNTY. Some information states below the name that it is torn, sons are mentioned under their father's names and slaves are mentioned under some of the names. Gween, I am looking for Cooks. Robert and son Thomas had land grants in 1784 in the Townfork Settlement. I think James Cook lived on what is now the Surry Sotkes border near Westfield. I think they came from Caroline Co, Va. I have never heard of the Hallows before, very interesting. I was b in Chestnut Ridge approx center of Mt. Airy, Westfield and Pilot Mountain.
