Susan, Thank you for your reply! I have wondered if she was really a Bagby and if she was from this family. Do you have any documentation for this? I would love to share. We still do not know where Henderson came from. We have done DNA testing, but so far have not linked to any other known lines. There will be a reunion for the descendents of Henderson and Julia Ann Bagley Cheek on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the Fellowship Building of Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Jonesville for a family dinner. We'll be eating between 2 pm and 3 pm, so bring a dish and join us. We have the building from 1 pm until 6 pm. I would love to hear from anyone in this family. Kina Gilley-Crumpton

The web page is at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/%7Ehjohnson/index.html Also, if you haven't discovered it already, take a look at Linda Starr's Johnson page: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~lksstarr/html/johnson.html -- Elizabeth Harris ncgen@mindspring.com Personal genealogy webpage: http://www.duke.edu/web/chlamy Winston-Salem NC area genealogy: http://www.fmoran.com/ HOLDER DNA project: http://www.mindspring.com/~holderdna/

In this case the bondsmen were named but only as "Tucker" and Edward MOORE. Tucker apparently father of groom which I knew about but brides last name was McKinney. Don't know how Moore fits in. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

Hey Cuz, I don“t know about NC, but in VA and security was needed for any minor to marry. That security was the permission for the Minor to marry. I am not sure if this held true in 1848. So far as I know, there wasn't any separate application filed; at least I've never seen one. Often the bondsman was a relative, but the relationship isn't specified, and you can't make any assumptions. -- Elizabeth Harris ncgen@mindspring.com Personal genealogy webpage: http://www.duke.edu/web/chlamy Winston-Salem NC area genealogy: http://www.fmoran.com/ HOLDER DNA project: http://www.mindspring.com/~holderdna/

Where would I send a letter to find out if there is a marriage license application in Surry Co. I have copy of the license (July 1828) but maybe application would have parents name on it. tks ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
Well, I have tried this before.but lets go once again in the hopes newbies have joined.. I am looking for information on Plutine "Tien/Tina/Tina" L. Edwards. She is listed in the 1880 census in Alleghany County, NC, living with her mother, Elizabeth Stokes (widow) and brother Jerome "Rome" Edwards. She was about 10 at that time and Jerome would have been about 12. I believe that Elizabeth/Elisabeth would have been around 45 in 1880. Tien later married Henry Houston Crouse and moved to Wilkes County, NC. Her marriage license states that she was the daughter of Elisabeth and Stokes (deceased) Edwards. I have not been able to find any other records on Jerome/Rome, although my great aunts tell me that my great grandmother talked of her brother "Rome" often. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
