    2. Elizabeth Harris
    3. I am delighted to announce the brand-new NC Marriages Database for NCGenWeb: http://tn-1.rootsweb.com/~marce/ncarolina/index.html Marceline Beem did the scripts for this new feature, and it is really neat. I think you'll like it. Sonya Woosley entered the marriage records from Judith Manley's 500k text file that we've been using for several years, and I added some marriages from my personal files and from Quaker and Moravian church records. Specifically for Stokes, Surry, and Forsyth counties, I entered marriages that are mentioned in the Records of the Moravians in NC up through about 1800, and am going to continue chipping away at those as time permits. Since these marriages usually don't appear in public records (i.e. no marriage bond was filed if banns were published in church), I think this should be a useful addition to the file. Please help by contributing your own data, particularly information from family Bibles or other personal records that would supplement what's available in the public files of bonds and licenses. Altogether we have just about 5000 records now, and I feel sure it's going to grow rapidly. Enjoy! We're still considering this as a beta test version, so please report any problems either to Marceline Beem ([email protected]) or to me ([email protected]). Anyone with any info on a RAMSEY JOHNSON that they can provide to me? I had been stuck on Kinney for over 5 years and now I know why, it apparently was the wrong given name. tks in advance jcjohnson of alexandria,va

    1. [NCSURRY-L] Johnson/Johnston
    2. I am still looking for anyone who is researching the JOHNSON of Surry Co., NC between 1798-1845. My GG grandfather I believe was McKinney "Kinney" Johnson b. 1798 Surry Co. m. Sarah ???? b. 1803. He owned land in Capt Mears district in 1835 and these JOHNSON males owned land bordering his which leads me to believe they were probably kin... Calvin, Kimbro (blacksmith), Charles and Drury. anyone know anything about any of these people? maybe it doesn't fit into your research but you could have the clue I need to start looking in another direction for my ancestors. thanks jcjohnson of va

Mo census of age and later death ), was not a Quaker but lived around/ with them. He had a known bro. Thomas who also went to Ohio but later went to Ky. It is believed that they may have been there before as Joseph is listed census of 1850/60 as born Ky.. Someone had placed Joseph birth as 1786 in NC and another as 1772 ??? as per Grundy co. on census that he or family filed out these are not correct as 1782 is it there. I am looking for any persons of any of these names in order to establish parentage on the above. They are believed to have come from Md originaly. 1. [NCSURRY-L] New Web Page on Family Tree maker online
    2. I have a New web page through Familytreemaker online. About 85 per cent is accurate and taken from Census records, Death and Birth Certificates, Vital Records , and Family Histories which have been proven accurate. The other 15 percent is guess work or how I believe people are related but as of yet have not found documented proof. Only have information from talking to other cousins and various Miscellaneous Data. You will find many mistakes in this because I of course am human like everyone. I will welcome any comments or ideals you send my way. I am no where near finished with my research. I am still entering data. The Page will be updated constanly. http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/s/i/m/Gregory-A-Simmons/ODT1-0001.html My fathers side is listed as Descendants of John Simmons. My fathers line goes back about 5 to 7 generations to about the 1700's. My Mothers side which has not been added yet but should be soon contains many New England Families of New Hampshire and Mass.. I have her lines back for 14 generations to 1640's and some before 1640 and into England. Greg Simmons

    1. [NCSURRY-L] FW: Abraham Reese of Surry co.,NC
    2. Janine Baxter
    3. We are working as distant cousins and fellow researchers to try and clear up some confusion re: Abraham Reece/Reese of Surry co., N.C. Does anyone know if there could have been 2 Abraham Reece/Reese in Surry co,NC at the same time? Could Abraham truly have a birthdate of 1745 vs. 1750 and have had Elisha and Elijah before marrying Mary Huff and having the other children? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We had been told by other researchers in the past of 1. ABRAHAM REESE was born 1745 in Surry Co., North Carolina, and died in Surry Co., North Carolina. Children of ABRAHAM REESE are: 2. i. ELISHA REESE, b. Bef. 1765, South Carolina; d. March 04, 1848, Midway, Crittenden Co., Kentucky. 3. ii. ELIJAH REESE SR., b. 1766, Surry Co., North Carolina; d. October 24, 1854, Petros, Morgan Co., Tennessee. We are descended from Elijah Reese Sr. Neither Elisha nor Elijah were mentioned in a will we saw on the REESE list. Then we have read on the REESE list and SURRY CO. list about the following: Abraham Reece, Sr. b. 7/1/1750 marr. Mary Huff b. 7/1/1754 in abt 1771 children of Abraham, Sr. and Mary Huff: 1. Daniel b. abt 1773 in Deep Creek mar. 12/3/1795 in Deep Creek to Rachel Hadley b. 12/22/1777 7 chidlren 2. Eli b. abt 1775 Deep Creek mar. abt 1795 in NC, to Elizabeth Wells b. abt 1775 6 children 3. Joel b. abt 1779 Deep Creek mar 1/14/1804 in Surry Co., NC to Sarah Martin b. abt 1784 5 children 4. Abraham, Jr. b. 10/2/1780 Deep Creek, NC mar 12/29/1802 in Surry Co., NC to Ruth Hadley b. 10/2/1783 Deep Creek, NC 9 children 2nd marriage to Mary Owen b. 1/22/1786 Deep Creek, NC 2 children 5.
