    2. Dear Gerri Ann, Do you have anything on a Martha Moore who married a William Hanks??? They would have been born in 1790's. They had a daughter Lucinda Hanks,b. 22 Sept. 1819. This is all I have at the moment. They were eventually in Grayson Co., NC. Thanks, Judy Alias [email protected] gerri ann lockman wrote: > Does anyone have info about John Moore X Nancy Roberts Moore. Their Children > were Joel , George and Ruth. Ruth m. Issaic Estep. 1. [NCSURRY] JOHNSON
    2. I am completely stifled with my GG grandfather in Surry Co., NC in early 1800's. Does anyone have a list of all JOHNSON families in Surry Co.,between 1795-1825? My gg grandafther, McKinney "Kinney" Johnson b. 1798 Surry Co.,NC He m. Sarah ???b 1808 Surry Co. In Capt. Mears district in 1835 he owned land on Beaver Dam Creek. His farm was bordered by these other JOHNSON males whom I "believe" may have been siblings of his. They were CALVIN, CHARLES, DRURY and KIMBRO. Kimbro was a blacksmith by trade. It has been said throughout the family that they were part indian. I would appreciate any names that fit between 1795-1825 of JOHNSONS so I can conduct a process of elimination in an attempt to locate the parents of McKinney. I suspect also that his mother may have been a MCKINNEY before she m. a JOHNSON as in thatbtime period most children were named after the maiden name of the mother. tks in advance jcjohnson of alexandria,va

    3. Hello again gerri, I think all of the Surry county, Moore families would like to find out something of these people. If you do not get an answer, I do have a sheet made up with all children "thought" to be children of John and Nancy Roberts Moore. This John is said to have died in Missouri, the younger George, which is connected somehow to my Joel Moore went to Illinois, Ruth and Isaac went to Wayne County, Indiana as did Joel. 1. [NCSURRY] Holland/Taylor/Forehand/Ruffin
    2. this is lengthy...but it all connects...feel free to forward to anyone you want. I will post some other abstracts (index card handwritten notes I inherited-source of documentation unknown) about the Forehands later with other some of the witness names listed below that connect to this group. remember ...I am posting spelling as was already printed. This pension document about The Holland is very similar to mine about my grandpa David Forehand born 1754 Edgecombe Co., N.C. died 1838 Nash Co., N.C. My grandpa David Forehand Enlisted in Edgecombe Co. November 1779. He was drafted twice but only served one of the times - once "I entered as a substitute for my brother Solemon Forehand and once as a substitute for one William Gadd."... ... ... ....goes on in detail for 3 pages. Rank Private...not engaged in any battles. Militia - Capt. Frederick Bell Lt. John Bates ( Batts?) Shadrack Scarborough Marched through Wilmington, N.C. & Georgetown S.C. to Charleston, S.C. Discharged April 1780. Regiment commanded by Col. Lowrie & Lt. Col. John Shepard. (Served with Micajah Pettiway & Lewis Todd, both of whom signed declaration for pension).......read below. Re-enlisted Aug. 1780 as a substitute for brother Solemon Forehand. Solomon Forehand will mentions Shadrich Scarborough...I have spelled everything as I have copied it...There are variations of spellings of names if you notice. Abstracts of the wills of Edgecombe Co. N.C. 1733-1856 {Williams 929.3} pg 130. the will of Solomon Forehand March 3, 1798 August Ct. 1802 : Son: Amos; Son & Exr: Drewry, to both sons all land upon head of Ruty (Rooty?) Branch it being plantation where I formerly lived. Son: Jordan, land that lies on road where Shadrich Scarborough lived, 1 slave, horse & colt. ? : Cloah Andrew, wife of Joseph Andrew; Son, David, plantation whereon I live, or $ to buy one, slave & horse; Daus: Sarah Furnivall, 5 S; Rachel, 5 S; Sealy, 1 slave; Lydia, 1 slave; Susanna, 20S; Exr. Charles Dilday Wit.: Reuben Ellis, Jordan Forehand One exr refusing to qualify, Adm. as granted Wm. Drake David Forehand..... Marched into S.C. by General Allen Jones Discharged Jan. 1781. David married to a Litha Holland. I saw Marriage bonds of Edgecombe Co., N.C. in the Library in Rocky Mount, N.C. her name was spelled Talitha "Litha" Holland. 12/4/1830 Moore (G.) Carter. David Forehand was 84 when he died. Looks like he was 76 when he got married!!! Go Grandpa! Do we have a southern Holland connection? He never had any children by her to my knowledge. I know nothing else of this southern Holland line. I do have Hollands on another branch of my family tree...they are from PA. I do have some names & dates & pictures of them. They were married to Hulshizer/Hulsizer & Eveland surnames. David Forehand had a daughter Elizabeth "Betsey" Forehand who is said to have been illegitimate and David raised her. Her mother worked on the Forehand Farm. That is from oral family history which no one would make up. I don't know who the Biological mother of Betsey is. Any clues?....read on.... Does anyone know who Betsey Forehands mother is? The Wills of Nash Co., N.C. VOL I 1777-1848 abstracted by Dr. Stephen E. Bradley, Jr. Will of David Forehand David (X) Forehand 30 March 1838 August Ct. 1838 "Weake in Body" Money from sale of land to go to the heirs of Betsey Ruffin: Polley, David, Martha An, Samuel Henry, Elisabeth, Frances, John Ruffin. Money from sale of rest of estate to go to Betsey Ruffin, John Maths, Lucy Taylor, Morning Moris, Lettie Forehand. Ex. Barney Pearson Wit. Dempsey Harrison, Teacle Ricks Does anyone recognize a surname in the heirs, executors, or witnesses. What relation is John Maths, Lucy Taylor, Morning Moris. I have a feeling that Betsey's husband Samuel was deceased ( I need a will on him) Now, I am guessing that Lettie Forehand is (Litha) Talitha Holland Forehand. Betsey Ruffin is David's daughter Elizabeth (Betsey) Forehand Ruffin & she was married to a Samuel Ruffin ...they had 7 children listed above in the will. Martha An is actually Martha Ann Susan Ruffin--one of my grandmas Samuel Henry is also one of my grandpas. Their offspring were 1st cousins & married. --------------------
