    3. Would someone who is also on the Forsythe and other and other county lists near Winston-Salem, NC re-distribute this on them if you haven't already seen it please? o Found in a Virginia antique shop, an old picture album (looks early 1900s) with pictures or notations about the following: The BINKLEY Family -- Henry BINKLEY, Jane BINKLEY, Robert BINKLEY, Jacob Andrew BINKLEY, Mary Lee BINKLEY, Elsie and Frank CANNON, Mary NIFONG, Nora and Metzel BINKLEY, Robert and Lolen ALLRED, Hazel BINKLEY HODEL, and Gladys BINKLEY LANCE. One picture was made by H. A. LINEBACK STUDIO in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I could not just leave this there so I purchased for a small price. I would like to get it to someone who might be working on their family tree. 3. Searching for parentage of a Solomon Collins b. 1823 NC and David Collins b.1828 Va. Solomon and David are believed to be brothers but could be cousins. David may be a middle name, so any Collins b. 1828 may be a suspect. Solomon m. Nancy Vippencon/Vipperman in Stokes County in 1841, and David Collins m. Ruth Vipperman in 1847 in Patrick County, Virginia. Ruth was the d/o George Daniel and Annas Hopkins Vipperman. Nancy and Ruth may have been sisters or cousins. These Collins men are thought to have came out of Surry County near the Mt. Airy area but this is only a theory based on some oral history. Any info. or leads on these two Collins men would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Patty

    2. Hi, Thanks for replying. Yes, I am beginning to join list after list, after list. I am broadning my search this new year and hope to collect enough puzzle pieces to break down some brick walls. I have some odds and ends on New River Notes that Jeff Weaver was kind enough to put up for me.They are under miscellaneous files, it is quiet an odd collection, as I had just learned to copy and paste info from my tree maker. I will copy and paste some things to this list that may help me and maybe someone else. Question: Was there a way a ship could have sailed up the Roanoke River to Mt.Airy or only to Albemarle Sound? Thanks, Connie

    1. [NCSURRY] Surnames/ Intrduction New
    2. Hello, my name is Connie from Va.Beach and in researching my family surnames have found many ties to this Mt.Airy area. My names are: Joseph Whittaker - b- 1754 at sea, parents die at sea. Someone ? takes Joseph Somewhere ? in North Carolina and raises him. He is bounded out either for his keep or the voyage. ( sure wish I could find him in these younger years.) His grand daughter, Virginia Whittaker marries a Professor Josephus Newton Davis in Mt.Airy, N.C. Also hope to find a Levi Canter and wife Rebecca James, and 2nd wife Sarah ? Other names I am searching are: Goodson, Jackson, Paulina Flinchum, wife of Henry B. Canter, Katie Davis, wife of James Canter, Phoebe Helt, wife of Calvin Whittaker, and Rachel Lewis, wife of Daniel Whittaker, and Miachel Brown, and daughter, Mary who marries John Helt. Most these people seemed to be in Mt.Airy at one time and went on into Wytheville, Washington, and Pulaski County, Va. Hope to enjoy the list and learn about the area. Many Thanks, Connie
