Most burials in rural counties were done by family, friends, and neighbors. I once asked about records at a Danbury funeral home and was told they they didn't start keeping records until the "1940's". This funeral home was started by the brother of my great-great-grandfather who died in 1921 at the age of 87. After his death it was run by his son who died in 1996 at the age of 91. It is still run by his family. bnc
