Does anybody know anything about this WITT family. My guess is that these folks are related somehow to Charles WITT (b. ca. 1712) and Leminah HARBOUR of Albemarle and Halifax Co. VA, whose daughter Charity WITT married Duncan CARMICHAEL in Halifax Co. in 1774 and later moved to Caswell Co. NC. Three of Charity and Duncan's sons, Barzillai Graves Carmichael, Solomon Carmichael, and Richard Carmichael, moved to Stokes Co. NC. I don't have a lot of information on the WITT family, but I was told by another researcher that they are of Huguenot origin.
