Dan Stevenson asked: >JOHNSON, SIDES, SPACH, ROTHROCK > >The seventh of nine known children of Jacob SIDES (1793-1840) and Maria >(Mary) SPACH (1793-1868) was Salome (Sarah) SIDES (1830-1891) who was born >at Friedberg, Forsyth County, NC and married William Caustin JOHNSON >(1823-1882) in 1853 at Forsyth Co., NC. They are listed on the 1860 and >1870 South Fork Township, Forsyth County census records with their eight >children: John (b. 1854), Henry (b. 1856), Mary (b. 1857), Elisabeth (b. >1859), Martha (b. 1861), Coston E. (b. 1863), Jennie (b. 1865), Maria (b. >1868) and James (b. 1868, a twin?). The parents are buried at the >Friedberg Moravian Church Cemetery. I would like to find out William C. >JOHNSON's parents, whom the children married and information on their >descendants. This family is part of the massive ROTHROCK family tree I am >working on. [email protected] I have William C.'s father, but have a question about his mother's identity. Can anyone else confirm, dispute, or extend this? First Generation --------------------------------------------- 1 William Coston JOHNSON. Born 19 Apr 1823 in Clemmons NC. Died 1882. He married Salome SEITZ [SIDES]. Second Generation --------------------------------------------- 2 William JOHNSON. Born 27 Feb 1786. Died 28 Jan 1835 in Davidson Co. NC. It would appear that he is the same William Johnson who also married Alsha (Aaltje?) Boner. Boner family information from Parker Elrod just lists him with Alsha, but says she died 1816 and nevertheless lists William Coston Johnson b. ca. 1822 as his son, so he has to have another wife who must be the mother of William Coston, and also Alexander, who was linked to William previously, not on Parker Elrod's sheets. Alsha may have died 1818 instead - see cemetery records and her notes. William does not seem to be buried with Alsha at Mt. Pleasant. Third Generation --------------------------------------------- 4 James JOHNSON. Born About 1757. Died 21 May 1830 in Rowan Co. NC. Faye Moran, e-mail 8/31/96: He was apparently born at sea in 1757 on the way to America. His grave site is unknown but his will was probated Aug. 30, 1830, in Rowan Co. NC. He married Jane McKNIGHT. 5 Jane McKNIGHT. Born 4 Oct 1762. Died 31 Jan 1818. Fourth Generation --------------------------------------------- 8 William JOHNSON. Born 31 Aug 1732. Died 5 Sep 1765. Buried in Mt. Pleasant Cem, Clemmons, NC. Immigrated 1757? His son James supposedly born at sea. William died in 1765. Elizabeth was the court appointed executrix of his estate. In ca. 1767 she married Robert Willson. post to JOHNSON-L by "Patsy in Texas" 3/98 says that he came from Wales in 1757. He married Elizabeth ELLIS. 9 Elizabeth ELLIS. Born About 1735. not buried at Mt. Pleasant 10 George McKNIGHT. He married Catherine ?? [McKNIGHT]. 11 Catherine ?? [McKNIGHT]. Her first name from Faye Moran e-mail 9/1/96 Is she the Catherine McKnight who died 5 Sep 1771 and is buried at Mt. Pleasant Methodist? And is this Catherine Douthit?
