    3. Does anyone know exactly what the court of pleas was in charge of in Stokes County? I went through part of a film at the LDS library: Court of Common Pleas, 1790-1803 for Stokes Co., N.C. (LDS film # 0466252) and found all kinds of things in there besides court cases, including wills and land deeds. Can anyone tell me what the "Iron Works" reference below is all about? "Ordered that John Shelton, John Easley, William Clayton, Charles McAnnally, esq., Thomas Neil, Thomas Duncan, Josiah Calahan, Henry Tilley, Wm. Hawkins, Charles Beasey, esq., Elisha Childress, Benjamin Tilley, Robert Woods, Richard Woods be appointed a jury to insure(?) certain entries made by Cot Martin, P. Pirkins in the use of Iron Works and report to next court whether the land therein located is fit for cultivation or not." Thanks for any insights, Sincerely, Karla
