    3. Hi Gang, Thought I might as well send this out again to the "old lists" as well as the new. I have some LEWISES who lived in Rowan and Davie Counties just south of Mocksville on Dutchman's Creek. My ancestor Daniel Lewis, a Quaker, got there about 1760. His wife was Hannah Wilcox(en), a grand-daughter of Squire Boone. They all traveled to the area together from Pennslyvania. Daniel's daughter Sarah Lewis either married Joseph LEWIS in a military ceremony at Veaches Camp or in the Quaker Chapel that Daniel built on his land at Dutchman's Creek. One child was born to them. His name was Joel Lewis born Feb 1776 there at the farm. All of the above is well documented EXCEPT for Joseph Lewis! We can't find the right LEWIS family to put him in! My ancestor Joel Lewis named his children: Sarah, Joseph, Richard, Rachel, Joel, Richmond, Green, and James Stapleton. These christian names lead us to the "Warner Hall" Lewisis via David Lewis, a son of "Councillor" John Lewis. David Lewis married Ann Terrell, daughter of Joel or William Terrell. The names Joel, Richmond and Green were common names in the Terrell family. David Lewis had a son named William Terrell Lewis. William Terrell Lewis had sons named: Joel, Micajah Green, & James Martin. William Terrell and these three sons of "King's Mountain" fame, lived in neighboring Surry County. I would be anxious to hear from ANY Lewis connections from Rowan and neighboring counties. I do professional research myself and we've had Jo White Linn working on our line but to no success. The only way we'll be able to solve this is through you all and your family information. Thanks for reading my tale! Jay ;<)
