Rosalene, I have a copy of Marriages of Stokes County NC 1839-1887, only one Peter Smith was listed Peter Smith age 50 and Mary Tucker age 30, License # 229 23 Apr 1887, Stokes County. I also checked NC Marriages Early to 1800 but did not find your Peter Smith. I also have bonds for Surry, Wilkes, which are surrounding counties and did not find this bond. Ratcliffs NC Taxpayers shows Fidlers, Leinback, and a Christopher Smith all in Surry Co about 1760-1770.
