It was a snowy November day when 15 men from Bethlehem, PA made their way to the tract of land that the Moravains had purchased in Carolina Land. They took shelter in a trappers cabin. They gave thanks to God and held a simple Lovefeast. Wolves were heard very near the cabin. >From here came the settlement of Bethabara, NC. Bethabara was named by Pastor Adam Grube. It means House of Passage. Bethabara Moravian church is still an active church with 245 years of history. Bethabara lies in the Old Town area of Winston-Salem, NC. This truly was the start of Winston-Salem, NC. For more information about Bethabara you can check our home page.http://personal.lig.bellsouth.net/lig/c/a/captreb/ This in not the offical site for Bethabara but you can link to it. I also have family history from Stokes and Forsyth Countys listed.
