I got the Civil War records for Yancey Ancel Bowen and thought I would share what is there. There isn't alot. Yancy Bowen Pvt. Capt George C. I, 33rd Regiment, NC Troops appears on a ROLL OF HONOR County Forsyth Date entered into service: 10 Oct 1861 Age: 25 Vol. or Conscript: Vol. Remarks: wounded severly in battle of Wilderness The Jan/Feb 1865 Muster Roll is the last one for Yancey. I don't know if he was discharged at this time or what. He did move his family to Roane County, WV between 1867 and 1870. Perhaps Yancey traveled through West Virginia during his service to the Conferate Army and liked what he saw. I haven't been able to prove it but I think that Yancey deserted in 1864 because of the death of his daugher, Chana C. Bowen. No proof---just a hunch! The records also included a document from a Justice of the Peace regarding the circumstances that led to the death of some horses and mules that belonged to the Confederate Army. The soldier involved is listed as: ALEX BOWEN Private Co. E 35th NC I don't know if this is related to Yancey Bowen or how it ended up in his files but if anyone is interested in it, I will try to send it to you. It is handwritten and difficult to read. If anyone has more information on Yancey Ansel Bowen or would like more information about the docuent on Alex Bowen, I'm more than happy to share what I have. Thanks, Cathy
