    3. I am about to begin writing a comprehensive family history that focuses on the PURCELL/PURSELL family that settled in Cumberland County, NC c 1770 and then moved into Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri and Alabama. Connected families that will be mentioned in some detail include: MALLOY, MUNN, TORREY, GILCHRIST, McPHAUL, McPHAIL, GRAHAM to name a few. This history will provide new information not available in "The Lumber River Scots", "Carolina Scots" , "Purcells of South Georgia and Other Related Families" and other publications that mention this family. It will also offer corrections to many errors and assumptions in these publications. The history will be the result of over 30 years of research. I anticipate that it will be completed by mid to late 1999. The focus will be on Malcolm (c 1748-c 1776); John (c 1750-c 1810); Neill (c 1745-after 1810), Daniel (c 1755-c 1817) and Mary PURCELL (c 1740-?) who married Alexander "Sawney" Graham. Their father was John PURCELL who died in Cumberland Co., NC before 1785. This family came to Cumberland Co., NC from the Argyll area of Scotland about 1770. If you have an interest in the PURCELL family and the listed connected families please let me know and I will keep you posted on the progress of the publication. Better yet please consider sending me information which may be included in this family history. I would appreciate receiving your e-mail address, snail mail address and phone number so that I can contact you if necessary. This is not an attempt to compile a prospect list for the publication. Rather it is an effort to compile a list of interested researchers and others who may have a direct connection with these families.
