Well, since there's not a VASCOTS list, and since a lot of Virginia Scots moved into NC (including my Abernathys), and since this list is about Scots, I'm hoping someone can help. My many times g-grandfather, Robert Abernathy, presumably arrived in this country as a prisoner of war. According to materials I've read, Robert was one of 1610 Scot prisoners of war shipped to America by the year 1652, in Robert's case, to Jamestown. He was probably captured at either the Battle of Dunbar in 1650, or the battle of Worcester on Sept 3, 1651. There was a "delay" in transporting the Dunbar captives (and it's a sad story!), so probably both sets of prisoners would have arrived in very late 1651 or 1652. Does anyone know where there might be any or all of the following: 1) A list of the Covenanter prisoners taken at Dunbar and/or Worcester 2) The names of the ships that transported the Scots prisoners to Virginia in 1652, and 3) whether ship "passenger" or prisoner lists exist for those ships? I've checked most of the online usual suspects in terms of ship and passenger lists, with no luck. There's not too much online at all about the battle of Dunbar, and nothing on Worcester. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Regards -- Judy
