Hello, Can anyone give me some background on where the Lowes that lived in North Carolina, particularly Low Gap, came from? Are the North Carolina Lowes generally from Scotland? And, when did they come to the U.S. ? My Great-great grandfather was named Elisha Lowe, born around 1810 or 1820. He married Susan Bartley. Supposedly, they lived in Low-Gap before 1850. And, later they moved to Grayson, Virginia. They are shown in the 1850 and 1870 Grayson County, VA census indexes. Can anybody help me out? Thanks so much. Please respond to TN4law@aol.com.
