Some activity in *another* list that I manage has prompted me to change the welcome message that all new subscribers get. This change will also affect ncscots-L, as I'm not keen on having separate rules for different lists. I'm sending it out here for the benefit of current subscribers...this is the changed part: ***IMPORTANT*** Since starting NCSCOTS-L several years ago, I really have had very few problems. But the list has grown to the point where some ground rules need to be laid out. If you choose not to play nicely with others, you will be banished from the list. Discussions that go off-topic happen occasionally. Sometimes a message is CC'd to the list by accident. When this happens, I'll send a message to the list reminding everyone to keep to the subject. Time does not permit me to send separate reminders to every individual involved. If you choose to ignore me and send out another off-topic message anyway, whether you started the thread or just chimed in later, you will be banished. And please, don't add to the chaff by sending out "Stop sending these messages" messages. Too, I do not accept suggestions as to who needs to be exiled. I know this sounds harsh, but there are hundreds of list members here that deserve and expect a well-managed list.
