I am descended from James Watt, who was born in Scotland (exact location unknown) in 1729. He immigrated with his brother William first to Maryland, then both settled in North Carolina. James lived in Iredell county, N.C. near present day Statesville. He married a woman named Mary (whose surname is thought to be Bartholomew.) James is buried at the Fourth Creek Presbyterian Church cemetery in Statesville. I am descended from two of his children: Ann Watt, who married John Henry Petchey and Jane Watt, who married James Wood. Julia Hill
