I'm searching for birthplace and parents of brothers Hugh and Malcolm McGoogan, Born in Scotland, ( Malcolm abt. 1760 ) possibly Gigha or Kintyre. Appear in Cumberland Co. NC in late 1780s and then in Robeson Co. NC . On land transaction and on 1790 Robeson Co. census , name is listed as McGugan. After that they are always listed as McGoogan. Don't know which name was used at birth. Family stories say that 2 other brothers may have gone to Australia. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ann McGoogan
