    3. Hi Vicki, In response to your message on Fri, 30 Apr 1999 to NCSCOTS-L@rootsweb.com about the various spellings of McGLAUGHON: I quickly scanned through a couple of Pitt County, NC sources at hand, plus the current Greenville/Pitt Co. phone book, and came up with the following spelling variations of McGLAUGHON used in Pitt County. I am sure I have seen other spellings (or mis-spellings) but didn't look through all sources to find them. Notice, I didn't find the spelling McGLAUGHON in any of these sources. Chronicles of Pitt County, NC - McGLOHON McGLOHAN McGLAWHORN McLAWHON McLAWHORN Pitt Co. Cemeteries Vol. I & Vol. II - McGLOHON McGLOHORN McLAWHORN McGLAWHORN Greenville/Pitt Co. phone book 1998-99 - MAGGLONE 1 McCLAUHORN 1 McGLOHON - 20 McGLONE - 2 McLAWHON - 8 McLAWHORN - 176 - by far the most popular spelling in Pitt County today others I remember seeing somewhere - MACKLAN ? McLARAN ? MEGLOHON We also have McGOWAN / McGOWEN McGOUNS / McGOUNDS (the spellings used in my great-grandmother's Bible) but I doubt that is a derivation of McGLAUGHON. (my opinion) Somebody correct me if I am wrong. I have both McGLOHON and McGOWAN ancestors, but most of my McGLOHON cousins now use the McLAWHORN spelling. - Trish
