Seeking a good reference source which explains Scotlands regional/parish boundaries or political divisions in the 18th and 19th centuries. For instance I understand that Knapdale was a single parish until 1734 when it was split into North and South Knapdale. Having such a reference would help in pin-pointing the place of residence of some of my Scots ancestors. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks for any help offered.
