    3. I am looking for those who might find this family familiar. This is all the information I have on them before 1850. They were found on the 1850 Marion County, Florida census. From other records, we do know that he had a brother named James McNeill. We have no indicators about his wife. My line is through his daughter, Catherine McNeill Jordan. Hope to hear from someone. This is my first post to the list. Sydney(feminine version of the name) Cardner Florida Descendants of Neil McNeill Generation No. 1 1. Neil1 McNeill was born Abt. 1798 in North Carolina, and died Abt. January 01, 1860 in Marion County, Florida. Children of Neil McNeill are: 2 i. Catherine2 McNeill, born Abt. 1823 in North Carolina; died 1859 in Marion County, Florida. She married John M. Jordan February 06, 1845 in Jefferson County, Florida. This line is well researched. When Catherine and John died, some of the children were placed with Neil who lived nearby. One was found in the household of John Knight and wife, whom we believe to be the Betsey below. 3 ii. John McNeill, born Abt. 1830 in North Carolina. 4 iii. Margaret McNeill, born Abt. 1832 in North Carolina. 5 iv. Elizabeth "Betsey" McNeill, born Abt. 1835 in North Carolina. 6 v. Mary McNeill, born Abt. 1837 in Georgia. The 3 youngest children were born in Georgia, but we have been unable to find them on any census there in 1840. 7 vi. Laughlin/Lawton? McNeill, born January 1841 in Georgia; died February 25, 1904 in Lee County, Florida. He married Henrietta Caruthers December 14, 1879 in Sumter, Sumter County, Florida. I have the names of his chldren if anyone is interested. 8 vii. Angus McNeill, born Abt. 1842 in Georgia. Angus and James were twins, and both were killed during the Civil War. 9 viii. James McNeill, born Abt. 1842 in Georgia.
