Hello Listers: Is anyone out there researching the DUNN or MACTAGGART families of North Carolina? I would love to hear from you. My g-g grandfather, Thomas Dunn moved with his family from PA to NC probably in the 1850's. They lived in Egypt, NC which I understand is now named Cumnock and is in Chatham Co. Thomas' father is Robert Dunn who came from Nova Scotia to PA to NC and was involved in coal mining and engineering. Robert married Margaret Wilson who was from Nova Scotia. Thomas married Margaret MacTaggart who was born in Glasgow in the 1840's. Margaret MacTaggart's father was Donald MacTaggart. One of Thomas' brothers, Robert, married Elizabeth A.C. Wicker, daughter of David and Christian (McIntosh) Wicker of NC. Since I have been unable to find any reference to the MacTaggarts in PA, I believe they may have settled in NC.
