    3. Hello all, I have a question and am in hopes someone will have the answer. I've gone back to the confirmation I received when I joined the list, which reads, in part: "The purpose of this list is to facilitate communication between genealogists that are researching Scottish immigrants to NC. This includes all surnames & all localities in NC. Of course, messages & queries can also be posted regarding Scotland topics, as long as the subject lived in NC at some time." I've re-read the orginal post of this subject, and I can't find anything relating to the stated objectives of the list. Since I have only recently joined Rootsweb mailing lists, I'm wondering if it is a common practice to post messages unrelated to the stated purpose of the list. Are messages monitored in any way? If someone on the list posts an unrelated message, is any action taken? A similar situation occurred on a different list (different topic) and I wondered then. Now my curiosity has gotten the better of me. If anyone knows the answers, I would appreciate their reply very much. Nancy Brister
