Thought I'd mention again: James Stewart and his wife Elizabeth Bates came to NC from Scottland some time after 1758 (they were supposedly married in Scottland, but have found no record) had at least two sons, Henry, and James Bates Stewart who was born in 1795 somewhere in NC. Notice all the somewheres? This is all family history with only concrete: James Bates Stewart, 1795, NC, mother Elizabeth Bates, father James Stewart of Scottland any one see these names before?
