    3. Where would the Robertson Clan have come from? I understand that they were part of the Clan Campbell. Could someone explain that? I also need someone to check census for 1860 for Surry Co, NC and Carroll Co. VA, maybe ajoining area if not found in those two counties, for a John Robertson and wife Elizabeth "Nancy"...possibly having one child at the time. He being about 27 and her age unknown. Also Civil War Enlistment lists for same area...as he is said to have served on Confederate side. I am living in Korea and have not been able to find any place to get copies of these census records to do this myself. I would even be glad to pay someone for their time, if necessary to do the search. He is my deadend in the Robertson family. On his sons death certificate it gives his Father's name and Glasgow, Scotland as his Father's place of birth. It also lists his mother's name as Elizabeth "Nancy" Jones. I really would appreciate some help. Thank you, Sandra Dorociak

    3. Has anyone run into Lackeys in counties other than Rowan and Iredell, NC? I'm looking for Samuel Lackey born late 1790's who marries a "NC" girl. They may have been in the same area as the Speers family. I'm also looking for some Reynolds born about the same time..perhaps in Stokes County. I'm not certain if these lines are Scotch or Irish. I've seen referances both ways. Any ideas? Thanks

Thank you Ona Brown plantzlady@aol.com<< .............................................................................. ......................................... Well, I would say the name Southerland could be of Scottish origin. One of the northern regions of the highlands was called Sutherland. What, Sutherland in the North? This area was named for the southern region of the Vikings' land. The Duke and Duchess of Sutherland lived in Golspie at Dunrobbin Castle. I'm sure many took their name or the surname was to mean "from" the region of Sutherland. Just a thought.

    1. Hi everyone!
    2. C Westell
    3. I am dodging the Super Bowl. These are my questions: 1) If I was looking for actual marriage bonds for people married in Rowan Co 1750s where would I look first, second, third...? 2) I understand that the baptist do not keep their baptismal papers in church libraries. They are considered property of the pastor. I am looking for baptismal papers of a Pastor William Cook of the Eaton Baptist Church, Rowan Co. 1750s or 1760s. particularly for baptismal records of Benjamin Cutbeard/Cutbirth. Any relatives out there of this William Cook? Thanks. Christy. cwestell@flex.net
