    3. Have several Jesse Beans Jesse Bean born ca 1804 Rowan or Granville County NC died 11 Nov 1842 Graves County KY married Leah Gallemore 1929 probably in Rowan County: children William A., Evaline, Alexander Asbury, Celia Ann, Jesse Darnell. Jesse Darnell Bean was born 3 Mar 1843 Graves Co KY, died 21 Jan 1874. Another Jesse Bean married Barbara __?__ probably in Moore County NC, He died near Carthage, buried in a small cemetery near Carthage, Moore, NC, no marker: children Jesse Wyatt, John, Alexander W., Mary E. Captain Jesse Bean of Watauga Valley TN (very little about him because he is probably not part of my line). Jesse Lindsay Bean, son of John Bean and Rachel Wyatt, born 15 Mar 1839 Panther Creek, Backusburg, Calloway, KY married Mary Riley, died Paducah KY: children Maude L., Henry Huston, John Wesley, Rhoda Ann, George, Jake L., Rachel, Hiram. The Jesse Bean who married Barbara is a key to unraveling a mystery in my line. He had a brother William who died in his home in Carthage, Moore County NC in 1829. This brother William supposedly married Celia Wyatt but there is a lot of confusion about him. He is often confused with several William Beans who may or may not be related. I do not believe William Bean and Celia Wyatt had 23 children as many "authorities" claim and I can pretty much prove that he didn't. I am trying to find out if the William Bean who died in Carthage, Moore County NC is really the one who married Celia Wyatt. Any help appreciated, willing to share what I have. 1. Johnson-McNeill
    2. Ruth Edens
    3. I am seeking information on the ancestors of James Duncan Johnson and Sarah Jane McNeill who were married around 1856. Family tradition says that James Duncan's father was Daniel Johnson who was married three times: first to a Miss McNeill, second to a Miss McDougald, and third to Sallie McBride. I do not know who Daniel's father was. He was supposedly a grandson of Peter Johnson who migrated from Kintyre Scotland to North Carolina about 1760 and settled about 5 miles from the present town of Raeford on the North side of Rockfish Creek. Sarah Jane McNeill Johnson was the oldest daughter of John McNeill (Squire Jack) and Patsey Oates McNeill. John McNeill's father was Neill McNeill (Big Neill) who was married to Polly Matthews (Margaret?), daughter of Revolutionary Col. Thomas Matthews of Crane's Creek. Neill McNeill's father, Daniel McNeill came to North Carolina about 1759 and settled about 12 miles up the Cape Fear River from Campbellton (Fayettville) at a settlement with his brother Neill who had come over some years earlier. Daniel supposedly remained there for a year , then moved up lower Little River some 30 miles and acquired lands in a peninsula between James Creek and Little River. Daniel McNeill was married to Sarah, daughter of Alexander McCoy. Their sons were Neill, John and Alexander. None of this information has been documented. Any help anyone can give will be appreciated. I would especially like to hear from any other descendants of any of these people or persons living in that area of North Carolina who may be familiar with these names. It is difficult because in both families Scotch given names are used and some favorites are used more than once in a family. Hoping to hear, Ruth Johnson Edens

    3. Patty, The record below is from Richmond County, North Carolina Estate records and is one of the McGilvray references in my book, OUR NATIVE HEATH. There is a connection between the McGilvrays and the McDonalds in this area. It is known that many McDonalds left this area in 1839 for Barbour County, Alabama. I have included in one chapter several letters from Alabama to Rockingham, NC Richmond County. Most were written about the same time. Wonderfully warm letters. 1848 January 23. State of North Carolina. Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, Richmond County. The Petition of Jane McGilvray, Catherine McDonald, Alexander McDonald and Sarah McDonald against Archibald McDonald, Peter Blue and Mary his wife and James McDonald, represent that sometime in the year 1847 Catherine McDonald departed this life intestate leaving personal estate consisting of nine Negroes, one large bond and some other articles of personal property. That at October term of this Court James McDonald was appointed Administrator of all and singular the rights and credits of the said Catherine McDonald. That your petitioners with defendants and the children of the deceased and by law entitled to distribution of said personal property. They further show to your Worships that Archibald McDonald and Peter Blue (who intermarried with Mary McDonald) and wife Mary are not inhabitants of this State and pray that publication be made in some Gazette designated by the Court for the said Peter Blue and wife, Mary, and the said Archibald McDonald to come forward at April Term and show cause why this peitition may not be granted. They further pray your Worships after all legal steps shall be taken to appoint three freeholders unconnected with the parties to divide and distribute the said personal estate of the said Catherine McDonald among your petitioners and other ... 1. Re:What Next?
    2. Hello Everyone, I am here as I am everyday working diligently at the tasks of genealogy at hand. I just seem to be doing the old one step forward two steps back. I found out the real name of my Great Grandfather DANIEL LUTHER McGILLVRAY.Not DANIEL RUTH. Good right? Social Security application of my Grandmother his daughter and his death certificate. I found DANIEL LUTHER McGILVRAY! The problem is this one is born in 1829 married Harriette Marley in 1851. This is not good. But,he married her in Barbour County Alabama . And the ancestors I am looking for are from Alabama. By the way he was from North Carolina my ancestors started out from Scotland and went to North Carolina. I am thinking this is it.Wrong.I can account for all of the children of the Daniel that I found. Except an O. J. McGILVRAY.The only thing on him is his birth date 1852. All of the other children were born in Barbour County. So,I am assuming that he was too. It is to early for a birth certificate. I cannot find him on a census. I cannot find any of the family in any of the cemeteries in any of the counties that they are supposed to be buried in. This is a big if.But,if O.J.is my Great Grandfathers Father. And he named his son after his Father DANIEL LUTHER McGILVRAY.And I am pretty sure this is the way that it happened. Because in all of these months I have found tons of Daniel McGilvrays . But no Daniel Luther McGilvrays . And especially from North Carolina to Alabama. I might have a chance to find out more. But,I am not sure how to go about it. I know that the first Daniel died in the civil war in Atlanta. I do not know what regiment. How do I go about finding out if Hariette got a pension from him? Could someone please advise me how to find some sort of record on O.J. it hard without a name only O.J. Two of siblings moved to Texas and I have where they died and who they married. I will check there for them. Please tell me what do I do next? Help,Help,Help. Warmest Regards, Patty

    1. Re:A little Help Please!
    2. Hi, I posted yesterday about Daniel Luther McGilvray.I found him. But,the one I found is the Grandfather of mine. Anyway I could use a little help here. The Daniel Luther was born in NC 8-14-1851. He married Harriet Marley in Barbour County 2-20-1851. They had 5 children. There is an O. J. Mcgilvray with no information. I believe that this is my Great Grandfathers father. Since all of the children of the first Daniel are listed with their children, and my Grandfather is not among them. All of the children were born in Al.Barbour. Is there someone out there with information on these people. Don't it figure that I finally find the family. And the one that I need is the one with no information on. I'm telling you folks, sometimes you just can't catch a break. Best Regards & HAPPY 4th Of July Patty
