I posted some Surnames earlier, so forgive for this repetition. I am Researching: West, Barefoot, Williams, Draughon, McLamb, , , Hobbs, Mathis/Mathews SILAS WEST...Westbrook Township. 1870 census, Sampson County. Dunn or Clinton, NC. Westbrook township is in Sampson Co., but our mail came from Harnett Co., Dunn, NC. Westbrook is 5 miles West of Newton Grove, NC I am specifically looking for the parents of SILAS WEST born about 1833 who married Winifred "Winnie " Barefoot b. 1845. I have the 1870 census, but does anyone have the census or slave schedules dating from 1840-1860 my gr grandparents were stated as Mulatto as their race. I do know the there were no birth cert. or death cert. before 1913. SILAS died, I am told between 1900-1910/ How and where do I get this information from Also, does any one have a book of marriage records during that era. I believe they were married about 1861/`862. Someone please steer me in the right direction on getting this information. I live in Maryland, its hard for me to get to NC. Does anyone know what office would have this information in Sampson County? Thanks very much..
