Carroll, son of Raiford Carroll and Mary Vann, married Susan Anne Pearsall, sister to Thomas Uzzell Pearsall originally of Duplin Co, NC. Susan Anne Pearsall was first married to Lewis Martin and they can be found in the 1850 census of Sampson County. In 1850 David D. Carroll can also be found in Sampson County. Susan Anne Pearsall was the daughter of Edward Pearsall and Ann Guy. Edward Pearsall left will in Duplin County in 1837. David D. Carroll and Susan are reflected in the 1860 thruough 1880 census records of Wayne Co, NC. The will of Raiford Carroll, dated 9 Sep 1848, prob Nov. Ct. 1858, Sampson Co, NC lists David D. Carroll as son. Raiford Carroll died 9 Nov 1858. Known children of David D. Carroll and Susan Anne Pearsall are: 1. John Oscer Carroll born circa 1858 md Fannie Hicks in Goldsboro, Wayne Co, NC on 22 Dec 1886. She was the dau of Calvin B. and Mary E. Hicks. Was Mary E. an Edwards? Seeking further information on John Oscer Carroll and Fannie Hicks. 2. Mary Frances Carroll born circa 1859 md M. H. Mims (of Cumberland Co, NC) in Goldsboro, Wayne Co, NC on 14 Jan 1886. First name may have been Michael. He was the son of Thomas & Harriet Mims. It is believed that they were at one time residing in Lake City, SC. One child, Sally Kate. She married first on 23 Feb 1886 in Goldsboro, Wayne Co, NC, John H. Smith, son of William and Sallie Smith. They are believed to have had two children: Sallie Smith and John Smith.
