    3. Steve, It seems to me that the power of Attorney would have to have been registered in the county of the deceased. Have you looked to see if J. W. Eagor was possibly the Register of Deeds of Sampson County, NC on March 6, 1862? Maybe someone could look for you at the registration books for Book No 35, Page 342-3(illegible). I'm glad you are doing research into a branch of the CARROLL family! There are several of us who descend from a CARROL/CARROLL/CARREL/CARRELL who at one time lived in the area of Six Runs Creek in Duplin/Sampson County. If we could map this entire family someday, maybe some of us could find answers to our individual brick walls. Personally, I believe that one CARROLL family came quite early and then other relatives drifted in to join them in the production of turpentine, pitch, and pine tar, but so far I have not been able to either prove or disprove that theory. Some day I hope to study the history of the area more thoroughly and see if I can determine why so many CARROLLs settled there together, and then many of them seemed to move together southward as new Indian lands opened up. I believe they followed the availability of virgin long leaf pine trees. My Alexander Carrell (married Lucy Ryal in 1783, Sampson County) bought and sold several tracts of land. I think he sapped the resin from the pine trees for about 5 years and then sold the land to a farmer. It's just a theory. Anybody know anything that would help me prove or disprove it?
