Listmembers, this may be of some interest to CARROL/CAREL (other spelling variants) researchers. It is the earliest CARROL/CAREL land record I have come across in my on-going studies of early Duplin/Sampson land records. Fran, Thank you for posting the land record showing that Demsey Carrol was already living on the west side of Six Runs Creek in 1769. The earliest land record I had for him was a land grant in that same area on December 24, 1770. I still don't understand all the land transactions, but I have seen more than one date on some grants with a notation something like "Date entered" and then another date of the patent or grant. I wonder if Demsey was living on the land as a "homesteader" in 1769 and then paid for it in 1770? Can anyone help me understand that process better?
